Father Time

I see subtle changes taking place
Took a quick glance in the mirror
One more wrinkle reminds me of
Just how long I've been here
Asked my wife to repeat herself
Couldn't quite hear what she said
It's taking longer for my feet to hit the floor
As I rise each day from my bed
Chorus
All a part of aging I guess
We can't stop Father Time
It's how we live that matters most
As we march down the line
Strained my eyes to read the news
Put my reading glasses on
Almost forgot to take the pill
That keeps my blood pressure down
Think I'll pass on going out
Rather spend the night at home
Side by side with my best friend
Just the two of us alone
Chorus
All a part of aging I guess
We can't stop Father Time
It's how we live that matters most
As we march down the line
Called my kids just the other day
Felt a burning in my heart
The call went straight to voicemail
But I had a message to impart
Not one to give... a lot of advise
It's not what I like to do
Find some meaning in these words
Cause I wrote them down for you
Chorus
As you grow old remember this
We can't stop Father time
Find true love and happiness
As you march down the line
Find true love and happiness
As you march down the line

Blueberry Farm
Lyrics and Music by Scott Shorr

Verse1
I know your birthday's coming up in a day or two
There's something that I wish I could buy for you
Alaina, If I had more money than I do
I'd buy a blueberry farm for me and you
We'd pick and eat blueberries till our tummies ached
Surprise everyone with the things we'd bake
We'd have so much fun, for goodness sake
On our blueberry farm... Maybe some day
Instrumental Break
Verse 2
I hope the sun comes out and it's a pretty day
We could pick until sundown, nothing in our way
A little heat and sweat, a small price to pay
Cause we're at the blueberry farm hip hip hooray
I'd chase you through the bushes as you laughed out loud
Watch you fill your bucket up, making me so proud
The only place where there's never a cloud
Is on our blueberry farm, gonna buy one now
Instrumental Break
There's a chill in the air and the berries are gone
The seasons about over and so is this song
We'll be out here next year, unless I'm wrong
On our Blueberry Farm, it won't be long
Your sister will be born in a week or two
Before you know it she'll be picking blueberries too
There's nothing more that I would rather do
Than be on the Blueberry farm with Madeline and you.

Burnt one with my son

Burt one with my son
Lyrics and Music by Scott Shorr

I woke up this morning
Rose before the sun
Feeling kinda guilty
About something I had done
Feeling like a hypocrite
Being a Dad and all
Took a step across a line
Which years ago I'd drawn
Saw him in different light
My Son was now a man
But doing what I did last night
Was never part of the plan
We'd spent the day in a pool hall
Killing time and having fun
But something got the best of me
And I burnt one with my son
CHORUS
The two of us got higher
Than the kites flying down below
I visited a forbidden place
Where A Dad shouldn't really go
We munched out like some maniacs
Coming off a hunger strike
Wasn't the fatherly thing to do
But everything will be alright
Called him in the morning
But he didn't pick up the phone
His message said he was still out West
And that he'd call when he got home
How in the hell could he be out there
You know how strange that seems
And then It finally occurred to me
That this whole thing had been a dream
This whole thing had been a dream...thank God
So here's a little update
For those that care to know
If a dream become reality
That's just the way it goes
Didn't plan it this way
It just happened
It was all good by me
Here's the way it all went down
This was not a dream...
I was hanging out with my boy again
Down at Jacksonville Beach
Scoring two tickets to the Phish concert
Was well within our reach
The lights went down
The band hit the stage
And after a couple of songs
The scent of herb filled the air and it didn't take us long
It didn't take us long
Repeat CHORUS
The two of us got higher
Than the kites flying down below
I visited a forbidden place
Where A Dad shouldn't really go
We munched out like some maniacs
Coming off a hunger strike
Wasn't the fatherly thing to do
But everything will be alright

Gone So Long
Lyrics and Music by Scott Shorr

Heading up North to visit
An old old familiar place
A whole generation's gone by
Since I last saw her face
Towering over the Hudson
This fortress made of stone
Schooling our country's young warriors
With a mission all it's own
Chorus
I was just a boy feeling wild and free
On a path without a care
My Mom's persistence
Probably led me there
I was 18, I'll never forget
That place was like a foreign land
One that never played into
Any of the plans I ever had
(But I've been gone so long)
Taking my place in the long gray line
With MacArthur, Patton and Grant
Heros of war, leading armies of men
I never aspired to that
I guess you could say I was someone that marched
To the beat of a different drum
Grateful for things that came my way
Proud of the man I've become
Choru
I was just a boy feeling wild and free
On a path without a care
It was my Mom's persistence
That probably led me there
18 years old, I'll never forget
That place was like a foreign land
One that never played into
Any of the plans I had
(I've been gone so long)
How will I feel when I see her again
I'm sure she will warm my heart
My love for her wasn't strong enough
And that's is what kept us apart
(I've been gone so long)

"No reason to sing the blues"
Lyrics and Music by Scott Shorr
Copyright 2016,
Verse#1
Today I'm turning 60
To me, it's not that old
I've got some friends and family
To shield me from the cold
If age is just a number
There's no real need to fret
Just wanna keep on keeping on
With no regrets
Chorus
Now everything is good
Not a trace of bad news
Wanna sing about something
But it just ain't the blues
Verse#2
Early in the morning
Everything looked so bright
They all forecasted rain
Turns out, they just weren't right
Another missed prediction
Their glass half full at best
Can't go through life that way
You'll never pass the test
Chorus
Now everything is good
Not a trace of bad news
I want to sing about something
But It just ain't the blues
Verse #3
Got my life in gear
It's set on cruise control
Engines running fine
The wheels, they still roll
Could probably use a paint job
don't mind a little rust
Water, oil and gasoline
Now those things, they're a must
Now everything is good
Not a trace of bad news
I wanna sing about something
But it just ain't the blues
Today I'm turning
To me, it's not that old
I've got some friends and family
To shield me from the cold
If age is just a number
There's no real need to fret
Just wanna keep on keeping on
With no regrets
Chorus
Now everything is good
Not a trace of bad news
want to sing about something
But It just ain't the blues

I've Come a Long Way

I've Come a Long Long Way
Verse 1
I know you've got a lot on your mind
I know you've got this mountain to climb
No one knows the answer
To the age old burning question...we ask why?
It hit just like a big old hurricane
A category three with all it's rain
Soon this stormy weather
Will clear and you'll be better, yes you will!
Verse 2
This is gonna take a little time
Dig in deep and start your uphill climb
A gentle push from behind
Always there to sooth your weary mind
If you get low
The mountain's a little steeper than it appears
Progress helps you cope with all of your fears
The Summit's where the air is free
The place where you are going to be
You'll see
Chorus
I know you and you will fight
Through each day and through the night
Wish I was the one carrying this heavy load
Start the climb and don't look back
One step at a time, follow your map
Cause when you reach the top, You'll look back and say
I've come a long long way
Verse 3
My days are filled with loving thoughts of you
Your love is all I need to see me through
Everything will be ok
I know that's easy for me to say
But it's true
I see a ray of sunlight peeking through
The clouds are gone, the winds have died down too
A storm survivor lives to tell
Her story now that she is well
I love you
Chorus
I knew you would put up a fight
Through each day and through the night
Wish I'd been the one carrying that heavy load
Take a breath, you escaped the trap
One step at a time, you followed that map
Now that you've reached the top, you can look back and say
I've come a long long way
